GaGa- what's a GaGa?

Lauren named my mom GaGa. She was saying Grandma and it came out GaGa, and so it was and is to this day. The girls love GaGa. She is fun, lively, full of play and adventure. She loves to take the girls for experiences and is a hands on Grandma. I love that she really knows how we live, how we work as a team and our routines. Even though it is not necessarily the way she would do it- she honors my preferences and that means the world to me. We all have fun when GaGa's around. Full of life, smiles and entertainment- she can really run a party. She has help create some really great birthday parties for the girls. Their latest outing was yesterday while I was at the hospital with Nick. GaGa took the girls and Ky to a "Teddy Bear Tea." They loved it.

Thank you Mom for all your time, love and your dedication to my girls. Thank you for your affirming words and your constant encouragement. Your prayers are coveted and treasured. We love you!!

Grandpa & Gramma

My Dad and his wife of 15 years Carol. Gramma & Grandpa spent just about every Saturday at our house for the first 2 years of Lauren's little life. We love that habit they helped us create- Date night! We all cherished their commitment to us. We have some fun memories of Lauren's 1st year birthday on vacation in Vermont. The Vermont Teddy Bear factory, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream tour and just the opportunity to vacation together. Gramma is our family photographer and has captured so many treasured memories of birthday parties, family gatherings and the holidays. We enjoy our weekends away with Grandpa & Gramma. Dad recently had a health scare- it makes me realize we just don't spend enough time together.

Thank you Dad and Carol for helping us to establish an important part of our marriage today- Date night. Thank you for your love and appreciation for our girls. I love that you are delighted to visit with them and that you celebrate their individuality. It's fun to see you enjoy my girls. Thank you for believing in us and encouraging us "to keep up the good work!" We love our cheerleaders!

Nanny & Papa

Nick and Nancy! Nick's parents have been married for 43 years! WOW! That in itself is a gift- to us and their grandchildren. What a legacy of love, devotion, commitment. We have had the great pleasure of traveling all over to visit our Nanny & Papa. They have been retired since I have known them- but certainly don't live a retired life. Nanny & Papa like to take the girls for special, individual dates. They love to treat the girls to fun and get a kick out of their personalities out and about without Mom. They took Lauren for a slumber party before school started at a local resort- we all got to enjoy that one. They took Brooke to build a bear and they always get a laugh out of Kate. They are a support to Nick and I when we ask and like to provide backup support for date nights.

Thank you Nanny and Papa for moving to town. We are glad you are here to experience the girls growing and changing. We are delighted that you making memories with the girls and want to take time to teach them new things. Thank you for your support- especially yesterday! It would have been impossible without you there. We love you!!

Happy Grandparent's Day- to

THE WORLD'S GREATEST GRANDPARENTS!!

a little funny...

WHAT IS A GRANDPARENT? (Taken from papers written by a class of 8-year-olds)
  • Grandparents are a lady and a man who have no little children of their own. They like other people's. A grandfather is a man & a grandmother is a lady!
  • Grandparents don't have to do anything except be there when we come to see them.
  • They are so old they shouldn't play hard or run.
  • It is good if they drive us to the shops and give us money.
  • When they take us for walks, they slow down past things like pretty leaves and caterpillars. They show us and talk to us about the colors of the flowers and also why we shouldn't step on 'cracks.
  • 'They don't say, 'Hurry up.'
  • Usually grandmothers are fat but not too fat to tie your shoes. They wear glasses and funny underwear. They can take their teeth and gums out.
  • When Grandparents read to us, they don't skip. They don't mind if we ask for the same story over again.
  • Everybody should try to have a grandmother, especially if you don't have television because they are the only grownups who like to spend time with us.
  • They know we should have snack time before bed time and they say prayers with us and kiss us even when we've acted bad.
  • '' GRANDPA IS THE SMARTEST MAN ON EARTH! HE TEACHES ME GOOD THINGS BUT I DON'T GET TO SEE HIM ENOUGH TO GET AS SMART AS HIM!
  • It's funny when they bend over, you hear gas leaks and they blame their dog.
